Smartfuel collects waste vegetable oil (WVO) from restaurants within 50 miles of its processing plant in Seabrook, NH. By limiting the number of restaurants we serve, we can ensure prompt, clean collections. We are also minimizing energy costs for collection.
Smartfuel’s processing of waste vegetable oil into biofuels provides local employment. The vast majority of restaurant grease collected in the US today is processed and sent overseas for manufacture of animal feed and cosmetics, which are in turn, sold back to the United States.
Fuel made from waste vegetable oil burns much more cleanly than diesel fuel, reducing the emissions of greenhouse gases by an average of 67 percent according to the EPA.
